چکیده

Reflective memory may be thought of as hardwaresupported replication of data on multiple computersThis simple mechanism has been extended further, in software, to support memory semantics required by multiprocessors. This paper describes the reflective memory implementation of the Encore I&&y a distributed shared memory multiprocessor. A brief overview of the system is provided and comparisons are ma& with other cached architectures. Spinlocks are employed in this system to manage the herculean cache coherency problems which are a natural result of any system which employs massive replication. A Brief introduction to the recovery procedure used to return crashed nodes to normal operation is also described.

A Scaleable Multiprocessor Architecture with Multiple Read-Write Memory Model

This paper presents a scalable multiprocessor architecture with multiple access memories and multi-way busses. This parallel architecture with more intelligent memory model and efficient multi-way interconnection network organization is called as CRrCW (Concurrent Read and restricted Concurrent Write) scaleable multiprocessor system. The memory and network model provides concurrent memory acces...

Effect of Hot-Spots on the Performance of Crossbar Multiprocessor Systems

Atiquzzaman, M. and M.M. Banat, Effect of hot-spots on the performance of crossbar multiprocessor systems, Parallel Computing 19 (1993) 455-461. Previous studies on the performance of crossbar multiprocessor systems have assumed a uniform memory reference model. Hot-spots arising in multiprocessor systems due to the use of shared variables, synchronization primitives, etc. give rise to nonunifo...

A Design Principle of Massively Parallel Distributed-Memory Multiprocessor Architecture

Distributed-memory multiprocessor architecture is essential in developing massively parallel machines. One of the most important design issues in such a distributed-memory multiprocessor architecture is a latency problem which is caused by remote procedure invocation and remote memory access. Remote memory access and remote procedure invocation occur so often in massively parallel execution, an...
